Our Team

Rachel

Christchurch Preschool is led and managed by our highly experienced Preschool Manager Rachel Hawes. “I’ve been working at Christchurch Preschool since April 2007, working my way up to become the manager. 

I am level 3 qualified and I am a deputy designated safeguarding lead, Paediatric First Aid trained, food hygiene trained and have recently completed the CACHE level 3 SENCO training to become the settings SENCO. 

I enjoy being creative, through drawing, writing and playing the piano. I also like challenging myself to learn new skills – most recently taking up crochet using YouTube videos to teach myself the skills I need. I also enjoy cooking and baking and spending time with my husband and two children. “

Rachel’s team includes Kate, Asami, Sam, Betsy, Gloria and Barbara.

Kate

Asami

I have 4 years of experience in early years. I enjoy cooking, listing to music, watching films, traveling and spending time with family and friends in my spare time

Sam

Qualified level 3 in childcare and education. Over 20 years experience in the early years sector as a childcare practitioner, nursery manager, nursery are manager, preschool lead, creche lead and private childcare nanny.

I also currently work within the community in a supervisory roles supporting vulnerable children and families. Trained in safeguarding children and food hygiene.

Outside of work, my time is consumed with my husband and two children as well as extended family and friends.

Betsy

Betsy is a widely experienced educator of children from nursery to secondary school level and formal training in the arts and fashion.

She has previously worked at a wrap around after school club in a primary school for 2 and half years. Along side working at YMCA as a youth worker to help provide a space for young adults to hang out and make friends.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking, travelling, painting, drawing, yoga, practicing reiki and spending time with her loved ones.

Barbara

Emily

Earlier this year Emily took over as Preschool administrator, she also works as the administrator at Christ Church.

Emily looks after the website, finances, publicity, supports the preschool team and helps out in preschool when needed.

In her spare time she volunteers as a leader of a local Brownie unit. She also enjoys travelling, all things fitness, drinking copious amounts of coffee and hanging out with her family.

Parents comment that they feel able to feed any concerns or ideas back to the staff and manager. They feel confident that their suggestions will be considered and acted upon.
